I learnt a bit of Pascal, not much. But made a few DOS Applications with it. The ones that got finished were DiskInfo and SECURE. DiskInfo will return total disk space, disk space used, disk space free and %'s of these amounts. It also returns the DOS version number. SECURE is a small, low level security program that is called in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and runs on start-up. It is ideal for keeping "computer-illiterate" people off your computer. (Especially little kids)
I started an external Email composer for Arachne, which would have support for address books, URL following from messages and even an abusive Email FITB! ;-) This has stopped progressing because my TP IDE has fingered up! You can download my programs from here, they come with EXE, source, units & any required files. If you can improve on the programs, or use the source/ideas in one of your programs then... enjoy!
All of the programs will run under M$-DOS 3.3+, DR-DOS 6+ and DOSEMU 0.98.1 (may work on lower/higher versions. This is all I tested it on)
SECURE is also available from ZDnet's Software Libraries. Last time I looked, it was on 89 downloads! Woo hoo! SECURE also comes with an Installation program, which creates required files, configures usernames and passwords in the CFG file, and even back's up and edits your AUTOEXEC.BAT file after adding it's commands to the start of it. Of course for the more experienced, you can make and edit the needed files by hand as well.
Pop is thinking of taking SECURE one step further and making it a high level security program, by making it reside in the boot sector of the HDD. Similar to something that DESKTOP2 does. How ever this venture is not being followed at the moment.
